SORBITOL added to lye solution at 5% of oil weight, so add 1 ounce of sorbitol to lye water use calendula and rosemary tea for lie water. add glycerin to tea water at 60%. or 4 oz. add 1 oz of sorbitol to lye water. total lye weight - 4.81 with more KOH added than recipe called for. Not intentional but if it doesn't hurt, we'll keep it! added 1 tbsp of sugar and 1 tsp of salt to lye water. also added .11 oz of 100x aloe powder to lye water. Initially put .17 in oils, but it clumped and browned. we'll see how it works out. next time will consider adding at light trace. added additional 1.5 oz of 50/50 (4 oz koh in 4 oz of water) lye solution because the batch wasn't getting past trace. seemed to help the batch reach the Vaseline stage better. Also added 6 more oz of water (in 2 oz increments) because it got too hard too fast, and wasn't turning translucent. It did the trick. 2 pounds and 2 oz of soap paste! NEXT TIME ADD ALOE AND HONEY AT TRACE!!! Using 30% dilution scale, multiplying batch weight times .91. See soap book, page 33. Needs 32 oz of water to dilute. Will dilute with 60/40 water/glycerin (19 oz/13oz). Had 9.2 oz of calendula rosemary tea left over.
