Calendula Silk and Rosemary Shampoo
Solid Soap · NaOH · 28 g oil load · 7% superfat · 3 views · 0 saves
Add olive oil and calendula flowers to a small sauce pan and heat on low for 15 minutes. Strain. Combine oils (including the infused olive oil) and butters in a large pot. Melt and cool to 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Place a small ball (about the size of your pinky nail)into the water BEFORE adding the lye to it. Wearing appropriate safety equipment, go outside and add lye to water and stir until dissolved. Let cool until it is around 100 degrees Fahrenheit. When both oils and lye water are at desired temperatures, pour lye water into oils and use a stick blender to blend on and off until light trace. Add any colorants, panthenol and essential oil and blend. Pour into a lined mold and insulate for 24 hours. Remove from mold after 24 hours, cut, and then cure for 4-6 weeks.
