Coffee Infused Coconut Oil Bar

Solid Soap · NaOH · 138 g oil load · 20% superfat · 5 views · 0 saves

Heated the coconut oil to melting temperature, then added 6 tbsp coffee grounds. Infused over low heat for approx. 1 hour, then strained coffee grounds from oil using cheese cloth and a mesh strainer. Added the oil back to low heat and mixed water/lye. Once cooled to the temp of the oil, added the two together. Stirred consistently by hand over about an hour (I work from home, so I went back and forth between checking emails/answering the phone and then spending a few minutes stirring. Kept it up until I reached a medium trace, then poured into a mold. I would like it to go through a thorough hot gel phase because it has a rich, dark color from the coffee infusion. This amount is sized for a test batch.
