Fir Needle& Mint Shampoo & Body Bars
Solid Soap · NaOH · 100 g oil load · 5% superfat · 5 views · 0 saves
Started 5:43pm - Ended 7:15Pm (with dinner break in between). Used Jan Berry (Nerdy Farmwife) Simple and Natural Soapmaking book recipe, "Fir Needle and Mint Shampoo bars" pg 119. Followed recipe as directed with 2 modifications: used 2 month infused lavender olive oil, and dried flowers on top for decoration. Added sodium lactate to lye. Lye Temp: 106°F, Oil Temp 85°F, Combined temp 90°F. This recipe came to emulsion quickly. Added EO and spatula whisked. Then, stick blended to medium-thick trace and poured into silicone lined plastic loaf mold (Filled to top). Consistency was nice and thick enough to manipulate into "high top" design with metal stir spoon. Was able to change and reshape top a few times as needed to get desired look. Then added dried flower mix to top center (tea blend found at Ross store). No alcohol spray (to not disturb flowers). Covered with laminator box. Set in bedroom. Still pretty soft 2 days later. Haven't unmolded, too soft/sticky.
