Solid Soap · NaOH · 100 g oil load · 5% superfat · 3 views · 0 saves
Put on all protective gear- goggles, sleeves, gloves, and hairnet. Dissolve citric acid and salt in water before adding the lye to the water. Gently stir until clear. BE CAREFUL! IT WILL GET HOT! Gently melt lard and coconut oil and add olive oil. Add kaolin clay to oils and stick blend a couple of seconds. Once both oils and lye water have reached ~100F, add the lye water to the oils using your spatula to pour onto to prevent splashing. Stick blend in short bursts, stopping to check if your batter has reached trace. You will know this when it looks like an even mixture and no oil “bubbles” remain. If using fragrance, stir in it your batter with your spatula until well blended. Pour batter into your mold- this recipe fills a regular Amazon loaf mold. Cover your mold and insulate with towels. After 18 hours, check if your mold easily pulls away from the soap and is not easily pressed on the side or bottom. If it is hard, remove it from the mold and cut. Place in a well ventilated, dry place for 4-6 weeks to cure.
