Solid Soap · NaOH · 20 g oil load · 5% superfat · 7 views · 0 saves
Heat oils to 100 F. Set crock pot to low. Outside, mix Lye into water, add lye very slowly while mixing. Measure temperature of lye; if too hot put in water bath until close to oil temp. When both lye mixture and oils are at similar temp. (+/- 10 F) slowly add lye to oil mix in crock pot using the stick blender as a stirrer. Stir, occasionally pulse the blender. Once lye is all mixed into oil, pulse blender until pudding consistency. At pudding consistency set pot to high and cover with lid. Watch it cook and watch for “volcaonos”. If volcanos appear, mix/blend vigorously. When it turns to vaseline, mix well and turn off heat. Now blend in the super fats. Allow to cool to below 170 F. Then add fragrances/essential oils. Now scoop into molds, working quickly before soap clumps up and sets. Let set overnight. Cut up or release from molds and let air for 1 week.
