Test - Whipped Cream Shaving Bar Soap
mixed · 497 g oil load · 5% superfat · 3 views · 0 saves
Put all oils, stearic acid and glycerin into a 4 quart slow cooker and turn on heat to high to melt the oils. Turn to low when stearic acid is melted. Dissolve the Sorbitol, Kaolin Clay and Titanium Dioxide in the distilled water. Add combined lye into the water solution in which the Sorbitol, Kaolin clay and titanium dioxide have been dissolved first. Slowly pour the lye solution into the hot oils, stirring constantly. Then using the stick blender, proceed as for hot process soap making. The stearic acid in the oils causes the mixture to seem to try and separate. Continue blending and the mixture became lumpy and then eventually nice and smooth. The batter may still be quite runny when it comes to trace. That is because of the amount of water in the recipe. Let the soap batter cook on high and came back to check on it every 15 minutes or so. Over the next 1-1/2 hours the batter will go from looking smooth, creamy and liquid to a lumpy liquid and finally to a thick, slick Vaseline-like substance. Once it begins to look translucent, start to test the soap for excess lye. Either with the ZAP test or Phenolphthalein. Super Cream Phase: Melt together the following: Stearic Acid & Vegetable Glycerin. Mix heated glycerin and stearic acid in to the soap mixture along with the Sodium Lactate, using a potato masher or large silicone spatula until well blended. Let sit for 48 hours and then mix well with a kitchen mixer until well blended and lighter in texture. Cover and let sit for several weeks, a minimum of six weeks until "rotted". Mixture will have settled down and become dense & creamy during the rest. When rested soap is ready, add fragrance oil and mix well. Put into jars weighed out.
